Peace One Day

Warning, Moral Alert! If you don’t like Moralising, just skip over this one…

On the 7th of September 2001, The 21st September was chosen by the UN to be “The UN International Day of Peace, a day of global ceasefire and non-violence.” (UN Resolution GA resolution 55/282)

I only found this out, because at 22:00 on the 20th September 2004, I watched a film, relegated to late night BBC4 of all stations, about how “International Peace Day” came into being. The Film was made by a very inspirational man, Jeremy Gilley.

In 1999, Jeremy was a “bit-part” Actor, with aspirations of becoming a Director. He decided to make a film about trying to establish a “International Peace Day”, at that point not caring about whether he succeeded or not, he just wanted to make a film about the process.

He truly thought that he would fail, and the Film would turn out to be a testimony to the stubbornness of the world’s governments.

However, he visited places and saw things, and more and more his idea evolved into something he didn’t want to fail at, and so, he worked towards the dream of an “International Peace Day”, and that dream is now a reality.

This proves that just one man can make a difference. So, I now feel the need to tell everyone I know about this very important day.

Visit the Website http://www.peaceoneday.org and find out about how we all can make a difference.

It’s been a year since I last sent this message out, and things seen to be worse, not better… However, there is always the hope that if people can have “Peace one day” they can have “Peace every day”.

That is why I’m asking you to please copy and paste this information into an e-mail, and send the letter around the world to everyone that you know. I don’t usually participate in “chain letters”, in fact, I heartily disagree with them! But hey, if you are going to do something, do it in style eh? And this one is so worth it…

Don’t you just hate it when your Friends row…

I was out at the weekend, clubbing at TG. Two of my friends had a big failing out. I love them both, and it is hard. I hope they patch it up soon, as it was a relatively minor thing, in the grand scheme of things….

I hate it when friends do that. Two of my best mates got divorced in 2002, and one of them virually demanded I choose which side I was on. I refused to do so, and now they don’t speak to me. I rarly see the other one either. 🙁

Things like that are all poo.

Knitting progress report

Look out for some new photos soon, but…

FMB is coming on a pace, up to 194st in the round. I’m three rows away from starting up the body of the bag. 🙂

Secret pressie is 75% done YAY!

Sock… Sadly lacking in impetus on that project I’m afraid. It is about 10% the way there now. I suspect it will be a UFO for quite a while! Oh, and I sold all my sock yarns on ebay very sucessfully! Thanks to all that made a purchase!

Lauren, see previous post.

I have a hankering to cast on a few other things, but I have to make some solid progress on secret pressie, as that has to be finished by next week… I hate deadlines! LOL
