Well, truth be told, I hadn’t, so when I got home, I did a little surfing…
I Knit London is the brainchild of Gerrard, who decided that as he loves knitting so much, and as there is not really a great deal of quality yarn/needles/accessories being sold in London right now, a stall selling “All special things knit” at Spittlefields market was required! To go with, a new “Moving Knitting Club”, meeting every other Thursday, at various Pub locations about town should be happening as well, to get the message out that knitting is here, hip, hop and happening (well, “Hip, hop and happening” is what it equates to in my mind at any rate 😉 I’m such the 80’s child, arent I!).
So, I popped along to their last meet, this time held in a rather popular pub in Soho.
I’m always pleasantly surprised around just how friendly and unsnobbish Knitters always seem to be. I rock up, ask if I can join them, and get welcomed with open arms and enthusiasm by the 7 people there.
Gerrard himself was full of enthusiam, knitting a sock on (litterally!) toothpicks with some Opal Self-patterning, whilst his partner ( not sure if that is just for the stall, but you don’t like to presume 🙂 !) Craig sat there knitting a baby blanket with 12mm and Super-bulky Colinette! Talk about contrast :-). We all knitted and chatted about ideas, yarns, pubs, and pattern books until hometime.
Not sure when the next will be, but teh stall is at Spittlefileds every Sunday, and I’ll be sure to keep checking the I Knit London to make sure I’m at the next meet. 🙂
