“We’re all going to Brighton…”

Well, that was fun! Made for one long day though!

The Munch was very cool, lots of friends who saw my very similar post about depression on IC and pammpered me with many, many hugs:-). I forget sometimes just how many friends I have. It is good to get reminded. 🙂

We went for Chinese after as well, the New Diamond was up to its usual excellent standard. (Will dig out the pic of “Menu E”, so that you can all see what you are missing!) The company was excellent as well.

Got home at 03:00 and up again at 07:45, to go to Brighton! Good day, good company. Lots of Strolling around, window shopping (mostly) and the occasional irrational purchase.

Anna and Ann got Beads galore! Nothing in the shop really grabbed me though. Ann took some unusual pictures of pretty lables in the Chinese Supermarket next door, (I’m hoping that she will ‘blog them!) and I bought a handpainted bag, and some Ginger pickle.

After Snooper’s Paradise, We headed to C&H Fabrics. That is one good shop, I might evern say better than John Lewis for Craft and Yarn !

We discovered a 100% wool that is heavenly. “Freedom” From Twilleys of Stamford. We were stunned. 100% wool, Chunky weight, £2.75 per 50g.

If you look at the equivalent Rowan, “Big Wool”, that was £7.75 for 100g, and didn’t feel quite as nice as the Freedom either…

Myself and Ann purchased 4 balls of Colourway 408 “Moorland” (and of which I’ve used nearly 2 already, and a very nice hat it has (nearly) made as well! Just needs something to “finish” it I think! ) and Anna purchased 2×408 and 4 of Colourway 407 “Orange Autumn”.

It is a lightly spun, unplyed yarn, so I suspect that it will felt beautifully (I can feel FMB moving yarns to this! So much cheaper that the Jaeger!), the white will (of course) take dye superbly, and at a recommended needle size of 10mm, I’m in hog heaven with this yarn! I want MORE MORE MORE! 😉

Then we settled into Starbucks, did a little knitting, and then found the MegaBus home. YUK! is all I have to say to the return journey. Because the MegaBus is just that, a refurbished Double Decker, it stank of diesel fumes on the trip back. I managed to sleep on the way down so I felt fine, but I was feeling decidedly green when we finally hopped off at Victoria.

I didn’t go out to the Free Fet. Party at Cable Street, I was just too damn tired! I slept 14 hours instead, and Gods, do I feel better for that!

Sunday was spent being very lazy, reading threads in IC,replying to e-mails, not playing CivIV (to my amazement!), some telly, a great deal of knitting a hat of new wool on a 9mm Addi Turbo 60cm circ, and letting the new Flat-mate settle in. He seems like a nice chap, so all is well there.

So, I’m more on an even keel now (Sleep always helps so much!), and I’m hunting around for some ideas to give the Moorland hat a funky-ish finish! 🙂

Toooo busy to ‘blog…

I seem to have a habit of ‘blogging on a Friday… Think it is trying to get all this stuff out before I forget at the weekend!;-) Ive not been sleeping enough this week again, so I feel like crap… why?

I did some updating of my wip page during the week. I have more to put in, but that did for a start.

I did some knitting 🙂 I was busy Tuesday at the Doctor (see below) but I did some casting on for the Horn of Plenty cosy I’ve been promising Cosmic all year, and on Wednesday, I did NWlondonktog and my Noro scarf is coming on a treat. 🙂

Talking of NWlondonktog, I’ve set up a quick and dirty website for it http://nwlondonktog.blogspot.com, so that will have all the essential details you need to find us!

I’ve found a huge and enjoyable time waster in Civilisation IV.

I joined bookcrossing.com and released a book into the wild. Exciting!

I lost my OstyerCard on the DLR on Tuesday Morning, so that was a huge pain… things like that always happen in the week that you cannot afford them to eh?

I went to the Doctor on Wednesday, after being bullied to go by lots of people. After all, periods that first absent for 9 months then lasting for 3 months really aren’t normal or fun. I’ve got to go and get more blood drawn, to check my FBC, Thyroid and Hormone profile. So, I have to find the time to go, but I lose money in doing so. That is the horrid downside to contracting. *sigh*

So, this (and other stuff) is a contributing factor to feeling rather depressed at present. I just keep crying at the oddest things. I want to go back to 2003, before the Endometriosis treatment started. I was “normal” then, regular periods, 3 st lighter and in a solid relationship.

I want to be in Love again. I want to be with a chap that is a true partner, someone who respects me, supports me, adores me, and wants to make the beast with two backs with me on a very regular basis. 😉

I’m out to London Munch tonight, so the frenetic whirl of socilising continues. That will be followed by a more intimate grouping heading over to Soho for a Chinese meal. Bed won’t be found until about 3am I suspect…

Which is a pain, because I have to be up early tommorow, as I’m off to Brighton with AnnaRella (http://www.annarella.co.uk) and PixelDiva (http://www.pixeldiva.co.uk) to go bead shopping, hang out, and generally have some fun. Mind you, I suspect it is going to be chuffing freezing! I need my woolly pom-pom hat!

Sunday? I’m sleeping and updating the website again!

I know, I’ve been gone too long!

I’ve been sooooo busy! I’m writing this at work, because I know I’m just not going to get time to do it at home, but I need to tell you guys something eh?

News in brief: Had a birthday, finished some stuff, ignored other stuff, learned very basic Crochet technique and generally have been socialising LOTS. All this RL stuff gets in the way of my PC time… 😉

Birthday: I’ve now turned 35. Apparently, it is a sign of getting older when you don’t receive any pressies on the day… which sucks big time might I add! Don’t get me wrong, I was given some lovely stuff, by some really good people, but nothing that had pretty paper wrapping on it on the day itself… and only 2 out of the 6 pressie I did get were wrapped at all! *sulk*

I was at work for the first time in years (I’m usually very strict about organising for having a birthday holiday, but being a Contractor is bad for taking time off!) but the evening was much merriment. I tagged along to an organised meal at Kettners in Soho, and the way the bill money worked out between the 30 of us, I got my dinner for free! 🙂

On the Craft front, I have taken lots of pics of what I have been working on, but just not found the time to upload anything at all!

  • Louisa Harding bag: Just about complete 🙂 ’tis all sewn (using matress stitch!) but needs zip, lining and handle to be usable.
  • Noro Scarf: Coming along nicely. She is now all diagonal lace on 6.5mm needles, and about 15cm long!
  • Lauren, I’ve been neglecting. No progress, poor Girl!
  • Clapotis: Ripped. I did two rows on top of the ones that Ann started for me, and mucked up the sequence. I tinked back about 3 times, but just couldn’t make it work… *sigh* So, I’ve ripped it, and that’s that!
  • FMB: Lixie and Anna both suggested making a proper swatch of the Jaegar on 9mm and felting it… I hate swatching, but hey, if it saves me having to rip out all that work to make it onto 12mm… 🙂
  • Sock: Not ripped, but I know I have no wish to finish it, so I must get around to dealing with it, ripping it and selling the yarn and needles on to someone that will make it what it wants to be!

New Stuff:

  • A Hemp swatch: I bought a skein of Hemp at allly pally…. I’m knitting a st st swatch. The finished fabric is good, will make nice bags I feel, but the yarn is perfectly horrid to knit! It just feels dead in your hands, no stretch, no bounce, and certainly unforgiving of mistakes! So, I’ll have to figure out what to do with the skein I have, and then just knit it and forget about this stuff I think!
  • Curly-Whirly tester: This is my first attempt at Crochet! Working out how to to is all rather well if I do say so myself. I’ve used my blue hand-dyed, and have made a lovely little rufffle! 🙂 Will have to pick a yarn a touch more chunky for a scarf though… I suspect some of my Recycled sari silk will want a lookin for it somewhere!!

Have made a few more stichmarkers, and appear to have gone totally bead crazy! I’ve bought glass ones, silver ones, findings and fixings. I’ve even co-ordinated with Carole, the Siver smith who attends Angel-Knits, and she is going to make me 20x 15mm rings in Sterling Silver! I suspect I have purchased far beyond my capacity to very use it all… btu hey, that is the pleasure of making individual items. 🙂 I’ve also just bought a “Banana Hook” on ebay, so I can take individual pictures of them, so I can start selling them.

Socialising? Here there and everywhere! I missed NWktog twice on the trot because of it… *sigh* Still, this week’s should be very cool we are having a “season’s greetings!” meal with an ulterior motive 😉

The First NWktog I missed wasn’t a knitting loss though, I attended the “QueerS&B” at the Curzon in Soho. A nice group of LGBT knitters, and 3 chaps! Very good to see I think! Then headed up the road for the London Ladies Munch, where they gave me a very yummy Birthday cake indeed, and made lots of fuss over me! 🙂

I also did my own munch last night, and HUGE it was, 41 people all together. Makes you proud to have started something really.

So, at some point soon, I promise to upload new pictures, and reannotate my WIPs page, but right now? I’m off to AngelKnits!
